How to Talk to Grown-ups about Art: Workshop for Kids

Ticket TypeNot-Yet-Member Ticket

How do you explain your art to a grown-up who just says "that's nice"? In this interactive workshop, kids will discover fun, easy ways to talk about their own art, what they made, why they made it, and what they want people to notice.

In this workshop, we will look at works by Charles Burchfield and practice "looking" games that build the habit of noticing details and describing what's there. Then, in the Useum Studio, we will create Burchfield-inspired watercolor landscapes, inspired by the works in the galleries.

We'll wrap up with a group share, where kids practice putting their new ways of looking to work, describing their art out loud, and deciding what they want their audience to know.
