Born in Bonn, Germany in 1881, Alexander O. Levy's profound talents established him as one of the most sought-after artists of the early twentieth century. He came to Buffalo, NY in 1909, eventually working as an art director for the Larkin Company. Alexander Levy gained prominence as a painter whose work, featuring detailed lines and allegorical themes, epitomized the emergence of Art Deco. The artist was celebrated in solo exhibitions in Paris, London and New York, Chicago and Buffalo. Since his death in 1947, however, there have been only two notable exhibitions of Levy's work.
